Services

All services are offered within a 20 mile radius of Cambridge, MN.   I am able to travel- depending on how many horses will be trimmed, and distance.  Feel free to contact me for any questions on whether I am able to come out and trim in your area.

  • Hoof Trimming

ATTENTION! Must read before you call me out to work with your horses...

     1) Your horse will stand for me, nicely- without pulling or kicking at me or you will recieve a bill for training as well.

    2) I am not your groomer- and am not paid to stand around in 12 inches of manure. Please offer a clean dry place for work to be done.  ( I only state this, because of the numerous part-time clientel that assume that I will go into their stalls that have 1 foot of manure to work on their horses where even they will not go..)

    3) Have questions--- ASK THEM! I will not bite.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have 7+ years experience as a Hoof Care Practitioner.  I am not "Certified" Nor do I plan to go in that direction. I do not follow any particular person's trimming method's 100%- but I do have similar techniques to many people. The hoof trimmer I can personally say I am most similar to, is Pete Ramey.. But again, I have my own opinions- based on my own studies and experience and do not follow his work. I am just in agreement with much of what he says/practices.

I can help you manage your horses diet as well- Which is a huge (If not the most important) part of maintaining healthy hooves.

I do regular maintenance trims, and rehabilitation or corrective trims on horses with varying problems- Founder, Navicular disease, Thrush, White Line Disease, hoof deformities,  etc.

     Pricing is as follows:

      (Updated May 19th, 2008)

    • $45 INITIAL set up trim-(For ALL horses- Mini, average and draft)
    • $30/per horse - Follow up Maintenance Trims

HORSES MUST STAND for the trimming to be done- If I have to wrestle with the horse to trim them, there will be an extra fee. I will NOT put myself in any excessivly harmful situation- my job is already dangerous enough as it is- and ontop of that, I have an injured shoulder, and would like to put off any corrective surgeries for as long as possible.  THANK YOU!

  • Horse Training

I work with horses a little different than most trainers.. I'm not an old style western trainer that ''breaks'' horses.. Nor am I merely somebody completely into Natural Horsemanship like so many people today.   My training style is more in the middle of the two..

I don't believe in using a lot of the harsh techniques as the old-school cowboys would have used- and I don't believe in ''breaking'' a horse, so to say. I want my horses to retain their personalities, and live happy lives alongside us being willing partners..   I'm not saying they always have to say "Heck yes, let's go on that ride!" every single time you go out to saddle them.. But also so that they do what you ask of them, when you ask of them.

The reason I say I find myself more in the middle of the two major sides of horse training- is because I don't necessarily agree with every aspect of the Natural Horsemanship training. I do use a lot more of the Natural horsemanship side of training rather than the traditional western training because a lot of the Western training can get pretty harsh.. BUT, I also think of horses as an animal used for work or transportation too.. Not just a fun pet.  SO, when it's time to get down and dirty and do what they're told, I like them to.

I never force a horse to do something it is not ready to do..  I show them what I want from them and how they can achieve that- Then we work on getting to that goal.  If they are having problems with the step, I will NOT force them through it.. I work on the step until the horse understands fully what I want from them, and then and only then will I move onto the next step.

I like to end sessions on a good note with the horse, so that the horse does not learn to dislike the training, and learns to enjoy and actually look forward to the session.

Here are just some of the things I can work with you and your horse on..

    • Reining

    • Western Pleasure

    • Trail Riding
    • Trailering
    • Starting young or inexperienced horses

    • Groundwork

    • Standing for a ferrier/vet

I currently do not have the facilities for training, but will come to yours to train.

I have a few different options for training:

    HOURLY

    $60/per hour per session

I will work on whatever needs to be addressed in these sessions, charging hourly.

    WEEKLY

I will train on 3 days  during the week ---- For $175 a week.

Approximately 2 hours per day, depending on what the horse needs work on, and when I think the horse needs to end the session.

    30 days

Alternating days-  Will end up being 15 days training total. $600.

  • Questions?

If you have any questions on my trimming/training techniques or on availability in your location just contact me!

These are pictures of my husband riding an Arab mare we sold- Misty.  She had not been ridden in over 8 months, because I was pregnant.  This was Raul's third time riding- and she was very well behaved and picked up on all of the cues and commands right off the bat.. VERY good for a horse who just had an 8 month vacation- But that's what we expect from our horses!
